In 2017, SAHA Istanbul initiated the establishment of the National Aerospace Industry Committee (SAHA MIHENK) and brought together relevant public institutions and platform manufacturing companies. The first outcome of these efforts was achieved in 2021 when the European Aerospace Quality Group (EAQG) recognized SAHA-MIHENK as the Turkey Regional Management Structure (TR RMS).
Subsequently, in 2022, the Turkish Accreditation Agency (TÜRKAK) was granted the authority to accredit domestic companies (CB – Certification Body) capable of providing AS9100/9110/9120 certification. This decision was unanimously approved during the European Aerospace Quality Group (EAQG) General Assembly Meeting.
Through its dedicated efforts, SAHA Istanbul successfully completed all the links of the chain in 2022, thereby opening an end-to-end field for quality systems in the Turkish Aviation Industry.
The collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, Ministry of National Defense, Presidency of Defense Industries, Turkish Accreditation Agency, Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Turkish Standards Institution, as well as companies such as TUSAŞ, Aselsan, Baykar, Roketsan, MKE, TEI, Havelsan, Turkish Technic, Kale Aero, and Altınay, facilitated the achievement of these successful outcomes within the framework of the National Aerospace Industry Committee established under SAHA MIHENK.
The National Aerospace Industry Committee (MİHENK) operates as the Turkey Regional Management Structure (TR RMS). TR RMS and its activities support SAHA Istanbul as the National Aerospace Industry Association (NAIA) on behalf of the Turkish aviation and defense industry, with the support of the European Sector Management Structure (SMS) and the European Aerospace Quality Group (EAQG) Certification Oversight Team (COT). TR RMS is referred to as MIHENK (National Aerospace Industry Committee) within the management of SAHA Istanbul.
