The integration of MİHENK, which was established under the leadership of SAHA Istanbul, Türkiye’s and Europe’s largest industrial cluster, with the participation of Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TAI), TAI Engine Industry, ROKETSAN, Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation, Baykar, Turkish Technic, ASELSAN, Kale Aviation, HAVELSAN and Altınay Aviation, to the EAQG has been completed. Thus, Türkiye became the 13th country to complete the integration of the EAQG, which is among the authoritative institutions in determining quality standards in the world aviation industry.
İlhami Keleş, Secretary General of SAHA Istanbul, told AA correspondent that these sectors have entered a rapid growth trend with the work carried out in the field of defence and aviation in Türkiye in recent years, and that this will continue in the coming period.
NATIONAL SOLUTIONS IN QUALITY CERTIFICATION IN AVIATION
In 2018, the Turkish defence and aerospace sector was meeting its need for certification according to the International Quality Management System Standard AS/EN 9100 for the aviation, space and defence industry through foreign companies. In order for the defence and aerospace sector to meet this need with domestic companies, the Turkish Accreditation Agency (TÜRKAK) received the authority to accredit domestic companies from the IAQG and the National Aviation Industry was established in order to be part of the structures that manage the aviation industry abroad and supervise quality processes.
Stating that in order for the sector to keep up with these developments, it is necessary to take part in international aviation quality processes and to improve the technical and qualification infrastructure of the companies, Keleş said: “International Aviation Quality Group (IAQG) and EAQG are among the authoritative institutions in determining quality standards in the world aviation sector. Under these organisations, Certification Body Management Committees (CBMC) and Certification Groups (CG) constitute local bodies within the countries. Currently, there were 12 countries integrated into the system within the EAQG. MİHENK was established by SAHA Istanbul in coordination with the EAQG in order for Türkiye to become a part of the global aviation quality processes,
It was formed with the participation of representatives of the major companies that make up the country’s aviation industry. As in other countries, the integration of CBMCs into the EAQG structural and electronic system was completed. Thus, Türkiye became the 13th country to complete the EAQG integration.”
